RECONNX, INC. was founded in 1996 dedicated to providing engineered solutions for the rapidly growing construction and demolition (C&D) waste reuse industry. Its initial focus is developing tools that facilitate the reuse of lumber ? the 11 percent of new lumber that ends up in the landfill each year plus the far larger volume of lumber annually wasted through demolition. The company estimates that the usable portion of waste lumber has a market value of $2.2 billion in the U.S. alone. But the cost of labor for recovery is so high that simple disposal, not inexpensive in itself, has been the "common sense" choice for years.

RECONNX believes, hidden within that industry-wide practice, an international business opportunity exists to provide the right tools and lumber reuse will become a financially competitive alternative to disposal.

As a startup, the company is on track to meet its initial goals: the development of automated nail removers and end-to-end finger-jointing systems. Market research indicates that RECONNX products, if priced competitively, will be popular with building professionals and do-it-yourselfers.
